Brad Arthur sacked immediately. Feel sorry for the bloke, seems a decent fella. Good coach, stayed too long though.

In typical Parra fashion, they've secured the human albatross Trent Barrett as interim coach for the rest of the year. Place has only gone to the shitter since he arrived.

Yeah agreed. I fear a lot of their shitcuntery is due to the presence of Barrett so him hanging around can't be good for anyone. Surely can lure Morris over asap.

What about the fella who was at the Titans before they inexplicably rissoled him? Was it Holbrook? He seemed to be doing good things with them and that club is where footballers go to die.

They don't know......(sniff)....they don't know.
Des has a way with words where he's able to basically call the refs and bunker rubbish and get away with it because of his smart wording.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought he was dogshit as a coach. I could be wrong though. @Tart surely you'd have a better insight

"Moving the club in a different direction" apparently means sacking the coach then picking the same side which was lapped last week except for one injury-related change.

Peak Parra.

Nah Holbrook was good, at least had the place heading in the right direction.
Took over a spoon team and came 9th and 8th in his first 2 seasons, 2022 wasn't great,
They sacked him after a win, when we were coming 9th after having a fair few big injuries (Brimmo, Foz and Fifita all missed games I think).
And if we'd won a couple of the close losses we could've been in 4th at that point.

The Titans are not a team that is going to turn around and become a title contender in 2 years, I think pushing for/making the 8 in 3 out of 4 years would be considered a success by most Titans fans., and it felt like things were starting to click well and with a full strength side we'd defo be in the 8.

He absolutely deserved better than he got, I think the club just got caught up in the reputation of Des and pulled the trigger when they shouldn't have

Holbrook is a good coach. I rate him about par with Arthur who is also good. Sometimes it just kind of gets stale and you need a reset, but I still thought it was harsh given the injury toll.

I think for Parra in particular there's a fear for a coach being a Brian Smith - a great rebuilder but a head case in pressure finals games. I don't think Arthur actually is that but his record matches it, so Parra fans are gonna notice.

Yeah I was an advocate to get rid of him come season end, but I definitely think it was harsh to sack him midseason given the fact that we weren't even expected to win the games we lost. But admittedly the way we capitulated multiple times was extremely ugly and I think made them panic to be seen 'making changes'.

My wanting him gone wasn't as much towards thinking he was a finals choker, in my mind it was moslty the opposite, he could get players up for big games but really struggled to keep them up for easier club games. That and the fact that the same issues hadn't been addressed in 5 years meant in my mind that a change was needed. At some point you have to realise that players like Sivo aren't going to become the next Radradra, and that your #9 position is valuable enough to splurge a bit extra on and can't just be filled with stop-gaps if you have a good enough halfback.

I also don't know if he is the one to cop the blame, but losing the likes of Papali'i, Niukore, Mahoney etc definitely had an impact on the club. Those players (maybe not Niukore, I just loved that guy) so obviously bled blue and gold and losing that has to take a toll. You look at the upper teams and they keep that core passionate group for as long as possible, and it just seems like the Eels priorities aren't the same. But I may be laying upper management issues at the coaches feet there, so changing the coach might have zero impact and the club could just be ****ed. In which case **** me I guess.
