Which criteria doesn’t he fill?Crawley is a ridiculous shout for this thread
Did you mean Zak?Which criteria doesn’t he fill?
Of courseDid you mean Zak?
He did. When he first played test cricket he just played shots. Not slogging, but very much looked to score until inevitably playing a big drive to a ball he should have left on 30 or 40.Martin Guptill for NZ .
Fantastic white ball player but never got going in Test cricket despite playing 47 test matches..
Its really bizarre how he never tried to adopt a more attacking strategy in Tests when he was around the likes of Jesse Ryder and Brendon McCullum , his Test SR was only 46 ...
See also Jos Buttler. His test career is a good case study of what happens when you pick a guy with a poor FC record because he has great white ball results.
Then how does he fit? His improvement make him the opposite of what this thread is asking for, no?Of course
I’ll believe that when I see it for more than 1 series. Then how does he fit? His improvement make him the opposite of what this thread is asking for, no?
Had a good series in India too. Agree there’s still a lot more to do to produce evidence, but given recent outputs in the two most important series England play in, it’s surely a case of persistence actually seeming like it may be worthwhile in this case?I’ll believe that when I see it for more than 1 series.
Imran Nazir also.Imran Farhat and Shan Masood
Gatting was never the same after the hotel bedroom fiasco at the start of the 1988 summer. Prior to that he'd been very good for about three and a half years.Being prolific in FC helped his cause. Good medium pace and wrist spin basher. Weaker v high pace.
