Anderson to end Test career this summer

centurymaker

Cricketer Of The Year
What if Anderson takes 7 wickets in the 1st Test at Lords and finishes on 707 Test wickets, just one behind Shane Warne, would the public pressurise ECB into requesting Anderson to play one more test?

Whatever it takes!!!
An ATG test bowler. Amazing longevity, incredible peaks, very good contributions to crucial away wins, brilliant fielder.

Will never forget that ODI down under where he first made his mark with a 5 fer and that banana swing he was getting. Never seen anyone control the amount of swing they get as well and as much as this guy has. Wish him a wonderful retirement.

BMac's medium term aim is winning the test series in NZ in 6 months and to use that as the basis for his long term aim of a successful Ashes tour to Oz in 18 months. As Anderson isn't in his medium to long-term plans, 1 test is sufficient. Unfortunately there is no place for sentiment in selection.

He has 700 Test wickets plus the most by a fast bowler. Going past Warne isn't too important.

But maybe play Jimmy for the entire T20 series against Aus so he can pick up 1000 international wickets.

Of course I am. FMD there are late 20th century South American dictators who are on par with him as a bloke.

I think the Warne figure would matter much more to the English public though, it's an interesting possibility.
I don't know why this is so tbh. Alistair Cook made nearly twice as many runs as Bradman but everyone knows he was less than 1/3 the batsman. The English public would well know this is the case with Anderson compared with Warne, whether he passes Warne's wicket tally or not.

I’m gonna miss how much the numpties like Burgey have a huge chip on their shoulder that seeps insecurity when it comes to Jimmy.
Mate I had hoped he'd keep playing Ashes cricket forever.
