Not only disagree with, but is absolute nonsense. In '78 the entire team was away playing WSC, and Marshall after not even a season of FC cricket (1 match I recall) and in what was noting better than an A team had to go up against India, and that counts towards his figures against Gavaskar?

I see objectivity has left the chat.
Marshall when he debuted had age of 20 . At the age of 21 , Tendulkar was ranked no.1 in ICC rankings. Maybe if you don’t want to count his 1978 series, then don’t compare him to a Guy who faced Imran, Wasim and Waqar at the age of 16 years .

This is exactly the problem. Very annoying when this kind of reasonable context is applied very selectively.

Tendulkar should get extra points for those teen prodigy performances. Marshall pretty much struggled like most to get in the team because of competition but by the time he did it coincided with his peak and it was smooth sailing from there.

I long ago said that Kyear has this bizarre obsession and he has proven it once again.

Look forward to more Imran references from him the next 10 pages.
He brought him up as succeeding against the WI, the batting lineup in 88 was not great. It was a declining Richards and Richardson.
Oh I’m not having a go at either of you specifically.

Its any thread with both of you really it all comes back to Imran.

Its inevitable, inexorable.

Its like an on again off again sitcom romance. Comes back every couple of threads. Will probably be resolved in the final thread one of you guys post.

We need an Imran Khan sub-forum imo

He instigates it. I wasn't bringing up Imran specifically. He just didn't like my Marshall take.

What did the other pacers face?

Interested in the great lineups all of them faced.
