We are likely to see both kinds of pitches. Ones with par score of 170-180 as well as those with par score of 220-240.

Agreed, a reminder that Salt smashed consecutive tons in December there.

You need the see ball hit ball openers (if it comes off they win matches) but some backup in the middle order should it be tougher. Just not sure India have that level of aggression up top.

We have guys like Samson, SKY, Dube for that. And Kohli with his WC record of pulling India out of trouble every time purely merits a position basis that
I don't like the idea of having both rohit & kohli in the same team for t20s. One is sufficient because they can't ever be benched regardless of their form in the wc, their suitability to prevailing conditions or their strike rate in the wc.

If for instance a pitch is an absolute belter, then I'd not want Kohli to play as he'd eat up balls. But it's impossible to bench him for a certain critical game where someone else might be more suitable.

Dube as of now won't feature in the starting xi. There's no room for him. You'd want guys like him on a high scoring pitch as well as Jaiswal, Sky etc.

Yep if Rohit wasn’t captain, it was better to have chosen Jaiswal along with Kohli to open.

I hope they play:
Rohit
Kohli
SKY
Samson
Pant
Dube
Axar
Kudleep
Chahal
Bumrah
Siraj

Yeah, not sold on Jaiswal's form atm despite the hundred. Rohit and Kohli have to open if they are to play at all. The next 4 look like they could do some damage on a decent cushion. Not a fan of shirt-chewing Chahal but I guess you have to reward people for decent performances in the IPL. Siraj is whatever, I'd have taken a punt on Mayank if he was fit.

Honestly think our best shot maybe this side -

Rohit (c)
Jaiswal
Virat
Dube
SKY
Pant (wk)
Hardik (vc)
Jaddu
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Siraj/Arshdeep
I really hope they go with this lineup eventually or another lineup where Jadeja is down at 8, as India desperately need batting depth so that they can all bat freely..

Plus Pandya + Dube can cover the 5th bowler quota.

Its a decent enough side but I feel like they have chosen the side with least possible controversy than a side that had the best chance of winning. :( Cant see us make it past the semis even if we go that far.
I feel the Rinku Singh omission is very controversial.

You pick a player, he does exceptionally well and then you drop him ..What kind of message does that send ?
A player with an average of 89 striking at 176 in 15 knocks for India should not be a traveling reserve.

So Australia's rightfully left out Smith, but chose Green over Fraser-McGurk 😞

1. Warner
2. Head
3. Marsh (c)
4. Maxwell
5. Stoinis
6. David
7. Wade (+)
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Zampa
11. Hazlewood

Spares: Agar, Ellis, Green, Inglis

the only reason why it hasnt raised as big of a furore is because he doesnt have the PR of some of the bigger names

So how do you rank team chances this T20 world cup? I would go

England
South Africa
Australia

West Indies
Pakistan
India
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
Afghanistan
Bangladesh

Looking at the line-ups, England, SA and Australia are clearly favorites over the other teams. Quite explosive line-ups. Also, I am backing USA to spring a surprise and qualify over either India or Pakistan. They will finish 3rd in the group at the least.

I agree with regards to Eng, Aus and SA being Tier 1.

In Tier 2- I would put India slightly ahead of NZ and WI.

Full-strength Pakistan drew 2-2 against 'NZ C' side at home. So I have Pak bottom amongst the top 7 teams.

Personally I wouldn't play either of them in t20s anymore, but if one must play it has to be Kohli, I don't see any real case for Rohit over him.
