That's true and tbf I have no strong feelings on it either way (it's not like the replacements have shone when given the chance). It's more the balance of the attack that concerns me.

Having said, Cummins and Bumrah are proving in this IPL that great bowlers adapt regardless, so what do I know.

i dont see how Ellis doesnt make it into the team with his skillset

ideally one of Starc or Hazlewood is the powerplay specialist, Cummins bowls the mid overs and Ellis for the death

Starc isnt the bowler he once was in Whiteball. He had a horrible ODI WC outside of the semi vs SA, was bad in the last t20 WC in AUS, and unlike Cummins he's not found a way to perform after the form reversal both of them had in the ODI WC knock-outs.

The only reason I would have starc in the squad right now is that both of his likely replacements (Johnson and berendorf) are in just as bad form and/or are injured. An attack of haze, Cummins, Zampa and Ellis is good, but I'm not sure I trust the guys in that attack to bowl upfront consistenly bar haze, and none of our all rounders really wanna do the job either.

Looks good but joverton is a doubt cos of injury and Archer will presumably have to prove his
fitness against pakistan. However Mott is still in charge and hes joined by Freddie F***wit, with
Pollard as local guide. With those 3 in charge what could possibly go wrong?
