English Domestic Season 2024

howitzer

State Captain
If he gives himself the opportunity Northeast could become only the third player with two 400+ scores in FC cricket after Ponsford and Lara. It would only be the twelfth 400+ score in FC cricket all told.

Why hasn’t he been given a game for England?

Somerset not picking Bashir yet have had Renshaw bowling before lunch.

Unless Bashir isn't fully fit to bowl then that's very poor from Somerset.

Because he averages under 40 IN FC cricket, and both of his potential 400's have come in the past 18 months when England have had a settled batting lineup.
Denly, Hameed, Roy, Lawrence, Crawley etc etc have all been given chances & have worse records

Hameed and Roy are openers, not #3's/middle order bats, Crawley has mostly been treated as an opener and is a bit of a nepotism pick, Can't speak to Lawrence or deny but they may have just been in better form or offered more pre bazball (bowling, etc).

As it was Goochie's mark he bettered it'd be fitting if his career had an Indian Summer similar to GAG's.

Without checking I'd be fairly confident that the great man was older than Northeast is now when he scored that triple Nelson and his 154* "best test innings ever".

Taking pleasure in Somerset having to use 7 bowlers and struggling to bowl out Matty Parkinson.

Perhaps an England spinner who took two fifers in India might have helped?

I take this back if Bashir not fit or ECB playing silly buggers. But somehow I very much doubt it

His two monster scores have both been in division two in the last 24 months. Without those two innings we wouldn’t be talking about him.

Sam Cook gets a hat-trick for Essex to restrict Notts lead to 40 all out for 293

When they were 259/4 not that long ago.

Hartley outperforming Nathan Lyon today, get used to it
