Cricketers you pick often in drafts

JOJOXI

I'm just going through the process of collecting all my draft picks in one table and seeing who I've picked most often and thought it might be worth opening this thread up for discussion about common drafting combos whether it be HB and Katich, trundler and Clem Hill or someone else!

Collated results for my first 14 drafts so far (that has only taken me to October 2020 since I joined in December 2019 so much more drafts to look through yet!) and the players I've picked most in those first 14 drafts

Ben Stokes - 4 times
Gordon Greenidge - 4 times
Clive Lloyd - 3 times
Rahul Dravid - 3 times
Sydney Barnes - 3 times
Mike Procter - 3 times

Intrigued to see how that changes as I collate over coming days/maybe week/s suspect I picked these cricketers aside from maybe Procter a lot less going forward.

This is definitely an interesting idea. I have been in a lot of drafts but i keep records somewhere so will see if i get the time to work it out

I guess at least you are halfway there with the records already - albeit can only imagine the number of drafts (and players picked) for you given you joined this forum 3.5 years before me!

I've been picking McGrath and Steyn a lot more than usual in more recent drafts. Also Border, May, and Barrington tend to find their way into my team. Hutton, Hanif, and probably Mitchell among the openers. I think Paynter gets picked up as well - I rate him highly.

Have you ever picked Sangakkara?

What a marvellous way to procrastinate instead of doing the job for which I'm actually salaried!

I've only search this forum, so there may be some I've missed, but players I've selected more than once in drafts contained therein:

Jonny Bairstow - 5 times

Jason Holder - 4 times

JC Buttler - 3 times
CR Woakes - 3 times
Frank Tyson - 3 times
David Warner - 3 times
Temba Bavuma - 3 times
Marcus Stoinis - 3 times

Shikhar Dhawan - twice
Faf du Plessis - twice
Ollie Pope - twice
Nathan Lyon - twice
Kevin Pietersen - twice
Ryan Harris - twice
Pat Cummins - twice
Angelo Mathews - twice
Lockie Ferguson - twice
Fred Trueman - twice
Che Pujara - twice
Anrich Nortje - twice
Daryl Mitchell - twice
Rishabh Pant - twice
Mitchell Starc - twice
Adil Rashid - twice
Stuart Broad - twice
Marco Jansen - twice
Shreyas Iyer - twice
Trent Boult - twice
Tom Blundell - twice
Scott Edwards - twice

Predictable bias towards multi faceted players (all rounders, keeper batsmen) and it's fair to say I like out and out pace too.

Don't think I really have any. Did have a phase of picking Inzamam a lot but that seems to have dropped off.

Probably pick more modern players than most.

Bairstow getting more love from you than most in England at the moment! Era-wise Frank Tyson a standout too

I've picked Hayden, Greenidge, Gooch, Macartney, Marshall, Benaud, Hall, O'Reilly often.
I did immediately think I feel like I've seen Greenidge in your team a lot when reading this post, Gooch and Greenidge are the ones that stand out to me for you now you mention it!

He always picks Benaud. Like really early as well.
I did attend HB School of All-rounders  and I usually dont get the chance to pick Warne, Murali, O'Reilly so I sort out my spinning all-rounder who happens to be a good skipper as well.

Now that he's off the menu, I noticed you also used to pick Lindsay quite often in the past.

I have played in only 7 drafts till now (2 ongoing, 1 I just completed my team); among which one was ODI variable order and one on the current calendar year performance. In total, I have selected only Frank Woolley thrice. The ones I have done twice:

Wasim Akram
Barry Richards
Kagiso Rabada
Wilfred Rhodes
Colin Cowdrey
Kane Williamson
