How do we fix England

In reply to the OP, English cricket could really do with a greater variety of pitches at county level to encourage spin (in particular) and fat bowlers and give batsmen greater experience of facing the same.

Never going to happen when the ****wits penalise teams whenever they produce a pitch that encourages spin.

The solution is simple...

Reduce the County Championship by at least two rounds.
Streamline the T20 Blast to a six team tournament.
Get rid of the 50 over cup.
Kookaburra balls to be used in all games.
Double the amount of matches in The Hundred
Redesign all English cricket grounds so that the pitch is entirely square.
Introduce football-style coaches.

...or we could just play better.

The purpose of her title is to identify foreigners and members of the lower orders who cannot pronounce it correctly. The Dutch underground in WW2 used the town name Scheveningen for similar purpose. The cricket equivalent is Levenson-Gower.

Less first class games does seem like a good solution.

More successors to 'Flat' Jack Simmons would be a good thing.

On the topics of foakes, I still think best practice is to swap the middle order around in some way so he can bat 5. He's made runs there for Surrey, and I feel his issue at test level is more a cameron green batting too low down issue then anything else. Feels like he always grinds out 20-40(80-90) and gets out trying to accelerate. Maybe we just need to let him face a few more balls and get to 60(130)?

Would also mean stokes can bat a bit lower and get his workload sorted out.
