He’s a cracking keeper. He’s not remotely good enough to bat 7

He's not anywhere near as good as Bairstow with the bat, before you look at any other options coming through

Bairstow's batting isn't sufficiently better than Foakes' to make up for the difference in keeping though. I mean, your bowlers don't create that many chances, you want to make sure they get taken.

Foakes is a comfortably better Test player than Bairstow tbh. Shouldn't be a hard decision between the 2. Having Foakes would help keep the English food bill down too
