The pace battery/production line of pacers from 2000 to 2009 should be a study on how once great powers fall.
From Franklyn Rose all the way to Dave Bernard Jr.

Yes, I watched it.Roberts peak is just barely better than Walsh’s career average lol.
You do realise Walsh’s peak was at the end of his career right?
Patently untrue.
Actually looking closer, the only thing you can really point to for Roberts is a better record in Australia, but lets not pretend the two Australian teams they faced were similar in quality.Yes, I watched it.
There are some from the 70's that rated Roberts the best of the quartet. I don't agree, but many regarded him pretty highly, I didn't get to see it myself and if I recall correctly went solo for a bit and was both a cerebral and skiilful and a ruthless fast bowler.
But yes, there is an argument to have him below Walsh.
I have conceded that Walsh can be rated higher. I don't believe he's better than the other 2 thoughActually looking closer, the only thing you can really point to for Roberts is a better record in Australia, but lets not pretend the two Australian teams they faced were similar in quality.
Also Roberts was relatively poor at home. I don’t think longevity can be ignored at all in this case, Walsh played for twice as long, hell he has more wickets at home and more wickets away than Roberts has in his whole career.
Yeah I’m not saying that.I have conceded that Walsh can be rated higher. I don't believe he's better than the other 2 though
I'm always railing against peer rating, especially to @subshakerz and this does prove why.Yeah I’m not saying that.
I’m just saying that clearly I think (me! of all people!) has been fooled by peer rating up until now re: Roberts/Walsh I am thoroughly ashamed of myself.
Walsh and Garner also get super bonus points for succeeding in NZ unlike their other great pacers and many of their great batsmen too.
YesDoes that mean we only have 3 world class pacers currently?
Very highly, he wasn't on the list.Sooo nobody here rates Ian Bishop?
You’re absolutely ridiculous, I love it. Do you even know what world class means?
Yup.You know that Roberts averages more than Walsh.... Right?
Yeah it's close between Walsh and Roberts.I have conceded that Walsh can be rated higher. I don't believe he's better than the other 2 though
Actually, correction, I think Rabada, Jamieson, Bumrah, Cummins and Jansen qualify for worldclass at the moment.
Hazelwood meh, he just seems to threaten more than deliver at that level.Anderson might qualify too. Robinson is world class when fit IMO. Hazlewood is definitely world class at the moment.
I mean Haze is averaging 24.66 atm so he’s doing pretty well lolHazelwood meh, he just seems to threaten more than deliver at that level.
Anderson to me has lost a step or two in terms of penetration.
Roberts' peer rating was in a fallow period for pacers in the 70s so it can be contextualized.Yeah I’m not saying that.
