I see, to Flem's earlier point in the test match thread, that despite Mycock's success in the middle order, he's been pushed up to open for Wellington A today... and failed. Ahead of Bhula (another failure) and Johnson (another failure).

Isn't he an opener at club level?

Stop with this babying of batsmen. If players need to be 'protected' from opening even at A level, then they'll never make it at PS level. Whether opening or middle order.

Do we want to raise a generation of Tom Bruce's?

I take your point, but he’s just been cracking runs for fun in the middle order. Why mess with an equation that’s been working? Smacks of tinkering for the sake of it.

Ha. I hadn't noticed that Otago opened the batting last night with Travis Muller as nightwatchman.

EDIT: Nice dismissal of Cumming by Johal. Always good to see a stump flying.

Parkes injured? Still hasn't come out to bat.

Otago still going for it however: 100 off 13 required, with 5 wickets in hand (including Parkes). Although Georgeson holeing out to long-off off a pace bowler is not the nicest thing to see.

Foxcroft out, so the chase is presumably out of the question now (I say as Duffy wafts at a bouncer, have some sense ffs). Really had them on the ropes though as in the minutes before Auckland conceded two separate overthrows (when no run out was on).

Why are you trying to get 61 off 39 when 8 down with a #10 and an invalid at the crease you utter cretins

Speaking of Bruce, is he still playing hit and giggle instead of captaining his team in the best format??

Yeah great win for Wellington. Amongst the numerous young batsmen going round, Abbas has to be the leading PONI right? Middle order though, won't get a chance for a while.

Last played 26 Feb in Bangladesh so I guess so. Sacrilegious but I am a little sympathetic to someone who's played domestic for so long, unlikely to play again for NZ, sneaking out of the Ford trophy to go have an experience and earn some money. But missing FC cricket is much less cool. And surely they can't give the CD captaincy back to him either.
