Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
I mean, I can see the logical cricketing arguments based on short term form, but every time I've watched Kuggeleijn, he has pace but little else. Unless that's changed in the last 12-24 months, he's exactly the sort of bowler that Australia could take a liking to as it suits the Australian style. He's also just been overseas playing hit and giggle and like all of our bowlers (other than those who played against South Africa) hasn't played FC in months.I think it's Kuggeleijn. The Basin will likely favour a bounce bowler, and whilst Rachin isn't the bowler Santner is, he's at least a stop gap option to bowl with the same arm, whilst Phillips turns it the other way (whilst also being part-time).
The sad thing is that if Scott K hadn't done anything horrible, we'd very likely be backing him as the no-brainer selection. Consistent wickets at FC level, took bags against Australia A - also scored a century against them - and his back of a length, bang it in sort of style might work and is what we need as a third seamer/4th seamer. If we want to beat Australia, I think he has to play. It's just in an ideal world, I don't want him to.
I also can't see Santner scoring runs v Australia. They'll just bounce the **** out of him.
