I think if you're going to pack the batting and weaken your bowling, you're basically admitting defeat by showing that you're not interested in taking wickets. All the talk about being progressive and England couldn't take the risks that the hackfraud Rahane would've smh. Imagine if you had an extra bowler who could give more control and supplement the attack rather than worry about full tosses/short balls while trying to load manage a 41 year old seamer.

Apart from the injured Leach, I'm struggling to think whom you could mean? They have tried Robinson this test to provide control and now looks permanently a yard short of where he was in December 2022. So whom might you mean?

I would say the last test is huge now for England, if you lose 3-2 in India then frankly you have had a bloody good series, but if India win 4-1 then that is quite convincing, so you are going from quite close to quite convincing in one match.

Why ? A loss is a loss . Margin doesn’t matter .

Whatever it takes!!!
Bashir looks comfortably better than the other two imo. Really accurate, and seemed to handle pressure well. Underrated thing was there were many times the ball thudded into the pads and he didn't do a broad by getting overexcited and ask for a review just because. Mature head.
Not denying that. But I just feel Rehan has the tools to be successful under most conditions, plus he is a potentially good bat and his skillset will be far more useful to where England play majority of their cricket.

In hindsight, dawson could have replaced bairstow and been picked as a genuine all rounder at no.7 with foakes at no.6

This would've helped england tremendously as root was playing as a bowler first 3 tests and England clearly needed their 5th bowler to bowl many overs. Dawson was in brilliant form with both bat and ball in county last year.

Story of the series for England with the bat although in this match the game would have been done on day 1 without Root.
England have been really good tbh. I know the inexperienced spinners have been awesome, but I also think its a function of horses of courses and excellent management of those resources by the management and Stokes.

I am really looking forward to see how Jaiswal does in Australia.
Every Great/ Good Indian batsman has a decent record in Aus except Dravid . So it will tell us whether he is the real deal or another Kambli/ Mayank Agarwal

India as you would expect in Indian conditions were the better team - fair play to them.

But before some of the Indian supporters on here self combust with happiness at beating us, the real test for any team comes away from home and as we know India's record in England is not so good.

In fact, despite India having some of its best ever sides in recent years, you have to go all the way back to 2007 for their last series win in England.

So my Indian friends it's 17 years and counting.

Why would anyone self-combust ? I think any decent Indian supporter will acknowledge that playing swing is the Achilles heels of this team . This is why we consistently struggle in ENG/NZ .
