Or you know he was actually picked on merit regularly. We had Jayant Yadav picked ahead of him vs SL IIRC, he also bowled better away but somehow Ashwin/Jadeja are always automatic picks! He had some issues in LO but never tests, in fact he's a classical test spinner.

This test is another demonstration of how rookie spinners from abroad can come and compete with local spinners by virtue of the pitches.
Ashwin has obvious next level skill here but Jadeja really is a one-trick pony bowling his off/middle darts and just waiting for the pitch to scuff up enough where they can spin.

If you don't get 34 runs from your last six wickets then you deserve to lose. I think another 75 will be very competitive

during that LO slump he wasn't good in tests too
he played in Chennai against England and looked completely lost then
he's bowled only in 2 sena matches and he was great in the Sydner fifer but equally he was useless at Lord's even if he only played then because our dumbass captain decided to be extra dumb that day
he is gun but lets not pretend like his record is completely free of scrutiny or asterisks

He gets stuck on the crease early on that makes him vulnerable to being lbw or bowled, he looks better when he uses his feet and takes the spinners on
The risk with that is that you can get stumped but at least you get out having a crack rather than getting out just defending meekly stuck on the crease.
