He doesn't get a pass because theres someone doing worse.

Kept making room and kept being surprised when the Aussies put it out of his reach
I'm not saying he does, but my original comment was about Chapman not being up to it. Phillips has stunk up the joint with his tactics today, and he's still been vastly superior.

lol the ultimate dispresect - having your part time offie bowl the last over of a ten over a side game.

Phillips has played a good innings for a T20, he needed to play a great innings for a T10 though especially with all of our other batsmen struggling.

How many backing away slashes at air through mid off did we see in those last overs?

Simply marvellous

Chapman was really poor. Just doesn't know how to face genuine pace. He's good at beating up on Pakistan, but not much else. This is coming from someone who is a genuine fan but he does seem easy to tie down.

Allen getting out to Zampa was a direct cause of Phillips missing a bunch the previous over. Had to swing no matter what and just skied it.

Well done to Australia, but jeez we sucked.

I can handle losing when it's close and we mostly play well, like Wellington. Our performances in the two Auckland games weren't anywhere near good enough.
My only solace is that we were missing Williamson, Mitchell, Ravindra and Conway.

Bowlers fared ok but also massively let down by the fielding.

We just don't have the depth to cover 4 quality batsmen like them all being out and beat Australia, hopefully we get them all back for the test series.

I can't think of many up and comers worth looking at as potential backups or future options which is quite depressing tbh

The hardest bit to take was a key factor in our losses were fielding and poor strategy with the bat.

7 or 8 dropped catches, most of them costing runs. Plus Phillips' fluff in the final ball in Wellington (doesn't that game feel like ages ago)

And we did little more than slog all series. Rachin swung from the arse to get 60 odd, Finn hacked a few in Wellington as well, then when the boundaries were long square in Auckland we did little to try and change things. Australia were much smarter.

Yes, Mitchell, Kane, Ravindra, Conway weren't there. I hope they would've been smarter. Watching batsmen miss ball after ball inside the off side wide line as they backed away was ****ing infuriating, to be fair. I don't see a plan, other than to try and hack a certain length when it's presented. No laps to mix up length, not much movement at the crease, pretty mindless, really
