Why this runs per match is a thing? Amount of innings varies due to lots of factors, batting position, strength of the batters ahead of you, strength/weakness of the opposition.

As shown when you remove Tendulkar’s extra matches, Lara still has 23 more innings to boost this stat lol

I'm as biased as they come but even I concede Sachin is slightly better. Lara simply wasn't as good a traveler as Sachin. That's it afaic.

Stats mean **** if a guy can win me the game. Saying this with a 2024 mindset instead of say, 2007 cricketing climate.

Times have changed.

Subz always tries to frame it like Lara is irrefutably inferior to Tendulkar, like the red headed step child.

It's amusing. 😂
Nah, Lara has a fair case to be ahead of Tendulkar. It depends on what you value, high peaks and high skills vs all-round skill, consistency and longevity. I prefer the latter but there I don't begrudge those preferring the former, even though they wrong.

Why is this bothering you so much, it's one line out of 14.

And runs over match isn't useless, it's how many you contribute to the effort.
Because thats the point of all the posts he’s made recently?

And yes it is, considering the other factors at play that influence runs per match vs innings.

But similarly the same can be said about WPM, and that's still quite widely used.

And again, what's so wrong with the stat. It's one of many being referenced and merits inclusion.

Because runs per innings is right there and a far more useful and precise stat.
