Lara had limitations? I thought what him so special was his super high ceiling.
This is probably skewed by Sachin playing an insane number of tests though? Would love to see what it’s like at about 130 tests for Sachin.Perhaps one stat which isn't talked about a lot in cricket (especially Test cricket) is how many times a batsman scores a total of 100+ runs for the match. Its probably a stat that hasnt been regarded or even thought about a lot. Anyway, we know in Test matches that the maximum amount of times a batsman can bat is twice.
So let's look at Tendulkar and Lara.
Tendulkar played 200 Test matches and scored 100+ runs in a Test match 64 times. That means he scored 100+ runs in a match every 3.1 Test matches. If we were to stretch things a bit more and look at 150+ runs scored per Test match - Tendulkar did that 26 times, so he averaged scoring 150+ every 7.6 Test matches.
Lara played 131 Test matches and scored 100+ runs in a Test match on 48 occasions. That means he scored 100+ runs in a match every 2.7 Test matches. Again, if we were to stretch things and look at 150+ runs scored in a Test match, Lara achieved this 25 times, so he averaged scoring 150+ runs every 5.2 Test matches.
My opinion, this is another stat that reflects that there isn't very much between Tendulkar and Lara. Both all time greats.
Cheers.
He is taking out his issues with me on The Prince. Poor guy needs to get himself sorted. Like, seriously.Subz always tries to frame it like Lara is irrefutably inferior to Tendulkar, like the red headed step child.
It's amusing.
I think that probably won't go to good as well as he debuted as a 16 year old..... I think somewhere from his 30th Test to his 160th would be an interesting comparison. This is probably skewed by Sachin playing an insane number of tests though? Would love to see what it’s like at about 130 tests for Sachin.
If we go to 131 Tests (which is what Lara played in career), Sachin scored 100+ runs in a Test match 42 times. Meaning he scored 100+ runs in a Test match every 3.1 Test matches. This is probably skewed by Sachin playing an insane number of tests though? Would love to see what it’s like at about 130 tests for Sachin.
As I've said before, there isn't a lot between Tendulkar and Lara. It comes down to personal opinion I think. For me, I have Lara slightly ahead (not by much). Others will have Tendulkar ahead and that's absolutely fine too. But I still think there isn't much between the two at all.Lara got higher scores bur Tendulkar was thr better batter.
Yeah, I believe Sachin is ahead but not by much.As I've said before, there isn't a lot between Tendulkar and Lara. It comes down to personal opinion I think. Well one was a bit of a home track bully and one wasn’t tbfAs I've said before, there isn't a lot between Tendulkar and Lara. It comes down to personal opinion I think. Comeon dude; Lara probably has one of the greatest series by any batsman in Asia....Well one was a bit of a home track bully and one wasn’t tbf
Below is Tendulkar and Lara at 131 Test matches. Why 131? Because that was Lara's final tally when he retired. This is probably skewed by Sachin playing an insane number of tests though? Would love to see what it’s like at about 130 tests for Sachin.
Really not that much in between them. Basically just the not outs.Below is Tendulkar and Lara at 131 Test matches. Why 131? Because that was Lara's final tally when he retired.

1 year and 1 month and a few days laters...we are still talking about these two immensely insane batsmen. This is gonna be a fun one…
Oh, and minnows.Really not that much in between them. Basically just the not outs.
And one is a left-hander and the other is a right-hander.Really not that much in between them. Basically just the not outs.
Exactly right. There is no clear standout. If there is a margin between them then it's not a big one in my opinion.Really not that much in between them. Basically just the not outs.
