The problem with us usually having 5 or 6 players in the side who would be best opening, and Maxwell being one of the only ones that can actually be effective in the middle-order

I feel like when it comes to Aus T20 selection, when you have a guy like Short who has made themselves a home at an 'interstate' T20 team for a long term and really established themselves there, it's fair enough to think about him in terms of being a South Australian

i dont disagree, but i still find it funny that we have guy who made a 145 opening the batting and we've got josh inglis opening the batting.
