Meanwhile, the Lions not taking advantage of their excellent Day 1. Now 173-7 having been 98-1 overnight. Ollie Robinson (batsman/keeper) having a bizarre series, he has 87 runs from 5 innings of which 85 came in one of them (3 ducks).
Can we dream of Ollie Robinson keeping to Ollie Robinson?

So my Indian friends......what's our predictions for day 2?

I'm thinking India all out in the first over of the day without troubling the scorers and Eng 480/0 at stumps.

Promising 50 run partnership before a swift end for slightly under 400. Bazball gets off to a great start but stutters and is reeling for a while at 250-6 before a lower order recovery. India’s day overall.

Following which India lose 5-0, of course.

He's about 10/50 off Anderson and has been beaten countless times. Hope he's able to grind through this little period.

Will Anderson be around? I suppose he might. Dude seems to defy time.
Even if anderson isn't around, i'de be interested to see how he handles robinson/woakes/ a county seamer like cook with the new ball in english conditions. His gameplan this game has been to just play anderson out and target the spinners. Worked well, but I don't think you can do that in england opening when you're facing woakes+robinson bare minimum.

Ashwin looks very comfortable and times the ball really well for a guy averaging 26. Always looks great until he gets out.

This guy Bashir bowls a ton of half volleys
It's odd too because he's tall and comes right over the top - you'd think if anything he'd err on the shorter side because he gets so much bounce. A slightly short delivery could still kick up and be a problem but a half volley will be drilled. Shorter bowlers and side spinners just get caned if they drop short so they need their average delivery to be fuller.

His footwork has always been pretty bad but it's the only part of his whole setup that doesn't scream "specialist batsman"

They were talking about it yesterday - he still manages to get a bit of loop and dip when he slows it down and tosses it up. My guess is that because it's harder to do when you're that tall, he keeps trying to do it but sometimes floats it up too far.
