I dont like Bazball

If Tests become fast scoring with totals going up despite no change in conditions/bowling strength, then what the **** have cricketers exposed to LO been doing for decades defending and leaving everything like idiots?

If it's just faster scoring with the same totals then I don't see any issues. You can bat however you want. If there's a good spell, see it out. Southee is going at < 3rpo today. If some noob is on show them no respect.
Yeah Brook has been aggressive but never felt he was channeling his inner Afridi whatsoever, controlled aggression is a beautiful thing when you get it right.

India have some older bats on their way out, and with how important t20 is , their should be some young lads coming through who can hopefully replicate this kind of batting.

Another advantage for the modern players is you don't need to switch gears drastically from being aggressive to defending and consciously trying to score off loose deliveries only. You could go straight from the IPL to WTC final without needing to change your approach as much. Could take a lot of the mental burden away.

Brook's technique is really orthodox... just has incredible hand eye co-ordination and the ability to pick up the short ball so early.

There I said it.

I dont even mind England's win tommorow heck they deserve it. Full marks to them for making a game out if it and it will be a tight slap on Ramiz and Babar face as their tactics with the pitch back fire on them.

But i am late 30's old school fan i want my tests run rate to stay betwen 2-4 rpo, occasional big hitting innings in tests are fine but i dont want tests to turn in to white ball slogging fests.

I am afraid this could be future of test cricket and i am not liking it.
Bring back meandering draws I say!

I thought about some thing today. Not sure how long Brendon McCullum will stay in this job......my gut is thinking not to long, maybe 3 years tops. He has set himself up to be the most valuable comoddity in world cricket I reckon. He's got whatever job he chooses after this gig.

Pretty unreal success story when you think about it.

I can see Mumbai’s franchise hegemony throwing all money at him to make him their top dog in their cricket operations while giving him freedom to still do media gigs and consultancy roles for international teams on the side

Someone should maintain a checklist until there's nothing left. It was fine being skeptical of it the first couple of series but some people have been in denial for months now. It's a transformation of unheard of proportions and has enough nuance with both batting and bowling tactics beyond the central "BRRRR MUST HIT FOURS AND SIXES" to be a reliable recipe for success.

They would've tied that test but the umpires cheated and decided not to give a wide to a wide ball
No, this is OverratedSanity, not Spark – don't confuse the klaxons. Rant about the worst single of all time instead, which coincidentally happened in the same innings.

Bazball is pretty simple really, in that it's the most straight up mental clarity. That probably helps the English fringe test standard guys especially since they no longer have to worry about "playing properly" and put all the onus to think on the bowler.

Whatever it takes!!!

Not like I called this back in 2022 itself when they batted well against us without being reckless in that 1 test and all those chases against RSA.
