*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

So what about an England team? The one I'd like to see would be Crawley, Duckett, Stokes, Root, Bairstow, Brook, Foakes, Rehan, Robinson, Leach, Anderson.

But I suspect Pope by virtue of his dubious VC position will bat 3 and Foakes will miss out.

Still no news on the broadcaster. Talksport announced their line up and it's one to make you hope the TV gets sorted soon (although might be fun to hear Bumble again). With the BBL finishing up the day before the Tests start, it would leave the morning slot free on the Sky Cricket Channel.....

It is a dubious thing to pick someone because they are a VC, especially as he won't have played a game since the end of June, and Leach hasn't for that bit longer, let alone the fact that England aren't doing warm-up games in India. It will take an exceptional performance not to be 2-0 down in 2 tests to be honest. Why did England want to do the schedule like that?

England team chose to forego warm up matches, they wanted to have a longer training camp amongst themselves instead. All part of the Bazball process.

Been talk about how much prep they had in 2012 as a yardstick for this series.

Of which Swann was defending it(no wonder when he's an England coach) said he ended up missing the warmup due to his child, arrived in India day before game and then proceeded to bowl 51 overs in the first innings.

But their last game prior to that series was on the 20/08 and they kicked off in India 15/11. They also lost by 9 wickets in that first game, hardly a good way to start a series!

Nor surprise they got thrashed in the game they were least prepared for. They bowled and batted poorly in the first innings, but there were signs of life starting to show in the 2nd knock (big ton from Cook and a 90 from Prior).

Lions playing India A again today.

Keen to see how Kaverappa goes 2nd time round. He's tall-ish, moves the ball a bit and supposedly accurate. Not the quickest though I think, saw highlights of him bowling at 130.

Good start by the openers.

Lees gone for 73. Jennings still there 81*

175/1.
The decision to put England in looking questionable, runs coming at a healthy rate too.

Worth noting that the Lions had a rather inauspicious warm up game last week that didn't suggest they'd fare too well. But maybe that's what they needed. Anyone know when the first team have their warm up???

229-1 at Tea - Worth noting that there's basically as many overs still to be bowled after Tea as have already been delivered......another issue with 4 Day Tests.

Spinners haven't done well either. No idea what the pitch is like, haven't found any coverage of it at all.

297-2 after 60 overs. Jennings out for 154, but then there was never any doubts about his ability to play spin.

Do we have any notion from reports about the pitches that they are playing on? Because they may not resemble much what they will play on next week.

Means nothing, Livingstone scored scored two hundreds against Sri Lanka in 2016/17 averaged over 100 in the series for the Lions and look at his test career. And yes, that was in first class games, back then.
