SA20 2024

He had a bad start to the season, then had a month break in the middle between Nov and December, then came back and made 2 hundreds in 4 games. I choose to take that pattern as a sign that he's a talented 20 YO batsmen who's developed his game. May be true. May not. We won't know until we see him play more games in the next 12-24 months.

I think going "he's averaged 36 this season, likely because he hasn't learnt how to construct an innings" is wrong given what we've seen as the seasons progressed, but like I said, we really don't know.
And the comment by Marius was because people were calling for him to be included straight into the Proteas. When he needs time to build his game. The true test in FC cricket comes in the second and third seasons when bowlers work out batsmen weaknesses.

Nobody is denying talent; off the cuff remarks against people who will not let players like Brevis actually settle into his game are the actual target here

No, the comment was made because he's made 3 low scores in this SA20. Nobody within a page and a half of that post is saying brevis should be in the team from what I can see.

I remember the calls for him to be included in the Test team after the tour of Australia. That would have probably done him more damage than anything.

FYI, I agree brevis should be nowhere near the national team. SA have enough top order options right now. Wait two years until the champions trophy/2024 T20 WC have passed, develop him in the A-system/with franchise cricket and then if he's ready bring him in.

It was a clearly sarcastic comment on all the fools who wanted him picked early. Anybody on this forum who has spent enough time in this SA thread knows enough about Marius would understand that.

Another thoroughly unsatisfactory ultra edge saving a batsman, not convinced Shepherd got anything on that.

JSK seem like a pretty poor team though.

Will Jacks creating carnage, and I've finally seen a one handed catch in the crowd (clearly what was required was a beer in the other hand).

A double wicket maiden in the 19th over from Topley. Jacks seems to have been batting on a different pitch to everyone else.

Lot of interest over these one handed crowd catches. The Blast could create the same interest by doing something similar. £50,000 for a one handed catch. That would get the crowds in.

Is this a tournament too far for Faf? It will be interesting to see what happens in the IPL because it's hard to see how he gets a spot above Jacks at the moment other than being the captain. Could Kohli retake the reins?
Bit early to say. He is coming back from an injury.

Good to see Thomas Kaber getting some exposure to the big leagues, left arm wristspinners are rare and he hasn't always gotten the recognition he deserves , can bat as well who knows what a good SA T20 can bring , wristspinners are gold dust in T20 cricket.
