So Smith has been moved up to opener to fit both allrounders Marsh and Green into the side. Funny thing is when Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon all play, Green and Marsh have limited bowling success

Green has 6 wkts @ 69.16 (8 Tests) and Marsh has 6 wkts @ 54.16 (9 Tests)

Better off just bowling Head more who has 6 wkts @ 31.50 (17 Tests)
Yeah that's why you need all of them to cover the 5th bowler role

At the risk of stating what should be blindingly obvious (and PEWS already said it), their bowling is not the main reason they were selected or why Smith moved to open. Green and Marsh are in the best 6 batsmen in the country. Forget the bowling. And I guarantee Smith would have wanted to have a crack at opening regardless, he didn't just do it to get Green into the side. He's not that nice.

Is green really even playing as a bowler at this point? He's playing because he's got a shield average of 60-65 with the bat and something like 70 at 4 for WA/AUS-A. He's the best young batting talent in the country and the selector's seem eager to fit him in.

just seen the advert on channel seven, "how will our aussie stars go against the rockstars of world cricket"
you know they're trying to hard to say "calypso cricket" without actually saying it
Ha-ha I just saw that and said wtf, WI are "Rockstars of World Cricket"

Reminds me of how whenever WI toured Oz in recent decades the media/commentators line is that while they struggle in the Tests, their individual talents will be better realised in ODIs/T20s.

If anything, the opposite is true. Haven't won an ODI v Oz in Australia since 1996/97 I think.
