I find the whole concept of Murray the Mormon hilarious given his reputation 🍻 but we have discussed this before and someone found an article where he notes he isn’t observant but the rest of the family are.
The Book of Goodwin would be a great stage musical

Good signs for the WI this game. Say what you want about the opposition but you can only play the team against you and they have thoroughly outplayed them

Last season a NSW 3rd XI made 4/400 against them so this is a massive improvement on that

I'd say it has been a decent workout but with some reservations.

Positives
  • The bowling from around the 20th over onwards was excellent.
  • Fielding was excellent
  • Shamar Joseph gave batsmen the hurry up on a fairly slow surface by Aussie standards.
  • Kraigg, Hodge, Greaves and now Da Silva looked solid with the bat.
  • No injuries so far! We'd had 2 already by this time on the last tour.
Negatives
  • Tage looks completely out of sorts
  • McKenzie and Athanaze have both been really loose.
  • The new ball bowling was very average. Roach in particular wasted the new ball.
  • We bowled too many no balls on day 1

yanno it is pretty funny that we spent ages discussing renshaw or bancroft or harris or marsh or marnus or head or green or ward or street or whoever and it's smith

Its funny cause the media genuinly asked everyone in the top 6 and green, but didn't ask him a few weeks before aswell.

Jhye Richardson can't win a trick. Finally healthy enough to get a recall for ODI series vs WI he's now injured again with a left side strain 😞

I like Ellis (sort of in an okayish, limited ceiling T20 bowler)

I wouldn’t have picked him for Odis in front of the likes of Bartlett or Johnson at this stage of the cycle

A day before it happened @TheJediBrah suggested it.

And he hasn't even gloated yet.

That might be because he floats so many dumb ideas that he forgot about that one, but still.
I was also adamantly proposing before the start of the summer the idea that we should be picking a gun middle-order bat to open rather than go back to the proven failure specialist openers, and met with quite a bit of resistance. Basically the "pick your 6 best bats regardless of position and pick the order later" philosphy.

I don't know if it's a good thing or not but seems I think like an Australian selector

Yeah, I would have picked Marnus as opener

So Smith has been moved up to opener to fit both allrounders Marsh and Green into the side. Funny thing is when Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon all play, Green and Marsh have limited bowling success

Green has 6 wkts @ 69.16 (8 Tests) and Marsh has 6 wkts @ 54.16 (9 Tests)

Better off just bowling Head more who has 6 wkts @ 31.50 (17 Tests)

I think both would be playing even if they couldn't bowl at this point.
