That was horrible by Ellis. Passing off responsibility to Dooley to try and win the game and then not bothering to watch the ball in case two is possible

Ellis is a tool he threw away a slim chance at a tie to protect his average because he didn't want to be ran out

What a **** I would delist him immediately

Watching the ball was irrelevant the facts were that they needed 2. Even if the ball was on it's way back to the stumps they had to at least try and run the second to stay in the game

No matter where the ball went they needed to try and run 2

Oh yeah but I mean off the previous ball, the one that ricocheted off the bowler. I reckon they could have run back for two, Dooley certainly wanted two, but Ellis cbf even turning around and paying attention to the game.

i personally think that, upon receiving a slower ball when 5 off 3 is required, just lightly tapping it to short third man for a single with no chance of anything more than that is absolutely the correct play. well done nathan ellis

Oh I thought you meant the last ball yeah you're right

You'd be surprised how often the fielding team messes it up in these situations even hitting it straight to mid off like he did, if you just sprint for 2 from the get go you'd actually make it more often than you think. All you need is a fumble from the fielder, bad throw or a fumble from the keeper. 1 of those 3 things will happen at least a 3rd of the time in a pressure sitatution. Wet ball too keep in mind

That little tap to short 3rd man was criminal tbh
I don't actually think there was anything wrong with that. It was a little soft to pass on responsiblity but I assumed he just thought Dooley had a better chance for the next 2 balls and it was reasonable to settle for a single. It's what he did after that was criminal

I can handle going for it and missing it and it being a dot ball, but when you need more than a run a ball and there's 3 balls left, settling for a single is disgraceful imo. unless it's the perfect yorker or something. he didn't even go for it. and then next ball, didn't go for it again in terms of a two because he had his back to the game. terrible stuff

Haha wtf happened. Do cricketers not like winning games?

Even in the first innings, if you're not running like madmen in the final over then you're doing it wrong.

While he can be somewhat excused - after all, who would expect Agar to turn one - that was a horrid bit of keeping from Inglis. Feels like his keeping has gone way downhill over the past couple of years.
