Word. Boring idiots will call this bad for test cricket ignoring how fun it's been. Fun is literally the most important thing, **** bat-ball balance imo.
Have to be a BORING IDIOT to find meme cricket like this ‘fun’ imho. Cricket is fun because it’s cricket, and cricket is cricket because it’s a contest between bat and ball. Y do u h8 cricket?

You were openly questioning whether cricket was in fact **** last year.

Oh yeah cricket is definitely **** and I hate it, but we all have a moral obligation to at least want it to be good.

I should have said ‘the idea of cricket is fun because hypothetically someone might be playing it properly somewhere’

No this is fun as long as it's not every game. The occasional lottery on a green-top is good for cricket.

I know the cricket season is cramped, but starting such an important test financially for SA on Wednesday was a big error IMO.
The first 3 days were sold out and the 4th was close to being sold out. But looking unlikely they will get to the third and fourth.
For quite a few the first week of Jan is still holiday season. Schools only open on 15/17 Jan. Starting on a Wednesday in the holiday season is not that big of a problem depending on venue and opposition.

They obviously can't pull off another Test but if the game is finished on Day 2 they should seriously consider playing an ODI on what would have been Day 3 or Day 4, especially considering the ticket sales for those days already.
This is the kind of thing they would have done back in the day when cricket was less weird and scary

They won't. Cricket doesn't have the flexibility.

I thought that but in this case they've already booked umpires, broadcasters, commentators, security, food and drinks etc for those days. Just having everyone show up as if they were going to Day 4 and then playing an ODI instead shouldn't be that hard.

I agree that they won't actually do it though. India would probably complain they didn't have their ODI squad there or something.

I think the first ODI actually happened because the first three days of a Test were washed out.
Sri Lanka toured in 2002/03 just for the ODI tri series and they had a tour game against Aus A that lasted about 30 overs, SL bowled out for 60 and it was chased down in 10 overs. Common sense prevailed and they played a 25-over game right after, would have been a good day for the spectators.

All that is true and makes sense when you think about it logically. Trouble is cricket doesn't work that way.
