Wow what a rubbish piece, most south Africans generally these days don't give a damn about color backround etc.

Kinda have to disagree with you their buddy, this is terrible for Test Cricket..

This is a disgrace of a Cricket pitch, not only have fans been robbed of a good contest between bat and ball, it also has financial implications for the ground ..

Match tickets sold for days 3,4 & 5 will have to be refunded amongst other precious revenue streams that will be lost ..

The ground will get a low rating which can affect future hosting of international cricket matches ..

The idea of test cricket is that it lasts for atleast 4-5 days, this is a terrible wicket and a waste of money.

SA are sending a B team for a test tour of NZ, the format is dying soon anyway . Might as well enjoy ourselves with all action, relentless tests like this one.

I continue to maintain as long as the pitch is not physically dangerous, and is not lopsidedly different handing a huge toss advantage, teams should just suck it up and play in all conditions.

And to be fair to India since the Kohli era, they have not complained about pitches overseas even once.

I think this is too permissive a line though. If a pitch is so bowler friendly that batting becomes excessively dependent on luck and random chance then that's not good viewing. Conversely anything like Rawalpindi 2021 should be fired from a cannon into the sun.

That's not to say it applies here though; I think that this pitch is certainly very spicy but these are also two very brittle batting lineups in these conditions; more competent batting with a stronger application of basics (especially leaving the ball more) would have seen nowhere near as much carnage.

Well, then the referee and ICC can surely call it poor in that case and go through that process. I just dont like the idea of the cricketers themselves whinging about this stuff.

Shastri said it was a Day 3 after tea pitch, he probably thought it was a Day 1 belter when India were 100 for 2, India collapse and it's now a minefield.
