Good to have such an interesting, challenging Test in Australia after (except for last India tour) so many duds in recent years.

Cummins the obvious difference between the two sides; back to his absolute best after struggling in the latter stages of the Ashes.

not to talk in terms of winviz but it felt like after day one, the match was a series of, aus are on top, pakistan get the game to 55-45 their way, then something or other happens to swing the game back in aus’s favour. big something in that regard was the mighty cumster who was just enormous, incredible!

Australia win by 79 runs. As mentioned Mitch Marsh made 96. On 20 he was dropped at 1st slip...absolute sitter. So he added 76 runs, so take 76 away from the winning margins and Australia win by 3 runs but with the margin being so small it's 50/50....Pakistan should of won it. Can't keep on dropping easy catches...

I mean, winning a game here would have been a monumental achievement. "Taking positives in defeat" is often overrated but they should definitely do that here, they'll play worse and win Tests in many places. It's definitely the most competitive performance they've put up on these shores in a long time, even moreso than the Asad Shafiq one which honestly was never quite as close as the scoreboard suggests.

An inspirational performance by Pat Cummins, he has developed the ability to take wickets when they are most needed. He is definitely one of our greatest fast bowlers ever.

In fact, the Shafique margin is really greater than the 76 runs he scored afterwards, because it also gave Smith a longer partnership.

As well as they played at times in this match, I just never believed Pakistan would win this match. They have such a mental block over performing in Australia Tests for so long that it always felt they would crack under pressure when it mattered.

If it hadn't have been the Marsh drop it probably would've been some other point later in the match.

It was their best Test performance in Oz since 09/10 Sydney.

I know they got closer statistically in Brisbane 16/17, but Oz dominated the first 3 days and only through not enforcing the follow on and a declaration did they give Pakistan a chance.

It was their best Test performance in Oz since 09/10 Sydney.

I know they got closer statistically in Brisbane 16/17, but Oz dominated the first 3 days and only through not enforcing the follow on and a declaration did they give Pakistan a chance.

I discount Sydney 09/10 because of literally everything that happened on the final day, that was just a disgrace from start to finish.
