He's been disappointing for sure. I thought he had the potential to be better than Shami sort of level, but he's gotten stuck around that 30 average. It'll be interesting to see if he can get things together more as he's nearly 30.Siraj hasn't really kicked on tbh. He's not bad but he doesn't put together a full 2-3 spells in a row where he's on the money. His opening spell yesterday was great but he's been pretty meh since then. Think this was the case earlier too but was hidden when bumrah and shami were firing. The depth when one of shami/bumrah go out injured just isn't there.
Having said that, he has as good a chance as any of breaking the partnership.Ashwin is a non-factor.
I remember Shami for the first few years of his career being dangerous but really scattergun (which is not at all what he's like these days)Shami was pretty decent immediately Tbf. But yeah, this next batch needs a lot of work.
Yeah, this session has killed the match for India. Clear lack of intent here. Elgar is awesome but Jansen scoring a 50 on this pitch is criminal. The match has pretty much ended by now....

Funny thinking about how Shami's career has progressed and how good he is currently. If he was Australian he wouldn't have even had a career as he's only 5'8" and probably would have got warned off fast bowling in his teens. While his record here is average I think it shows how different cricketing conditions and cultures can affect things.I remember Shami for the first few years of his career being dangerous but really scattergun (which is not at all what he's like these days)
Kinda. On his first tours of SA and NZ, I thought he was one of the few bright spots in our side where despite not putting up good numbers, he looked far more likely to threaten the edge than Ishant/old man Zaheer. He had a terrible tour of Australia where he went for loads but he was crippled by Dhoni setting some of the most baffling fields I've ever seen. By 2016, where he was class against England at home on dead pitches, he'd established himself as our best quick.I remember Shami for the first few years of his career being dangerous but really scattergun (which is not at all what he's like these days)
Dude, seriously stop hate-posting in India threads. The schtick is very stale now.Having said that, he has as good a chance as any of breaking the partnership.
Everyone who's actually watched agrees he should be bowling more tbh. Never going to be picking up many wickets on a pitch where the home side hasn't even bothered to pick a spinner.Ashwin is a non-factor.

Ishant career has been done for years bro. Might as well say we're missing peak ZaheerShami would have helped but the guy we are really missing here is Ishant.
Even the 2021 Umesh would have been good here.
Amar Singh IMO.Ishant career has been done for years bro. Might as well say we're missing peak Zaheer
Yes. Ishant had the bounce to make SA uncomfy and in that 2018 phase was really turning the screws.Shami would have helped but the guy we are really missing here is Ishant.
