Inglis is a part timer standard keeper
True. In terms of keeping skill Carey's really one of the better ones we've had in recent history - Haddin was horribly inconsistent with the gloves, Wade was at best OK with the gloves and at worst pretty awful and even Paine wasn't all that great against spin.

Mitchell Starc now only the 3rd Aussie to take 300 wickets and make 2000 runs behind Shane Warne and Mitchell Johnson

I'm a little confused at this new Pakistan tactic of catching the ball.

The Rizwan take was v v nice. Didnt commit off side with a cover drive, and on wrong foot. All keepers in here will know thats a tougher catch than it looks.

Carey's batting form is a bit of a concern (did make runs in his one Shield game this season though), but definitely think it is way too impulsive to be calling a change anytime in the short term

Nothing wrong with his glovework of recent times, where as Inglis on the other hand as others correctly point out hasn't looked too flash in that respect. Certainly a long way short of "the best keeper in the country" hype that those within the WA setup were selling us

Not even sure he'd be the best keeper in the country if WA seceded tbh. Bancroft and Whiteman were both better than him at the ages they stopped doing it.

If coaches from 20-30 years ago reviewed the footage of the Aussie dismissals this innings they'd be tearing their hair out. Awful techniques.

No problem with Carey. Always pick the #1 w/keeper for a test. 150 years is enough evidence to know what wins a match...and it isnt a slightly better batting average for the w/keeper, but his glove work does.
He'll go in and out of form with the bat as do all number 7's. If he can avge 28-30 over time that is plleeennttyyy for me.
