I think it's the mentality of 'it's the new ball so we must use bowler x'. Considering Jamal actual bowls the odd threatening delivery it might have been interesting to give him an over or two with it.

Of course the bowler they have given the new ball to averages 150, which last time I checked wasn't very good.

It's been largely Shaheen firing them miles down the leg side too. Some of them should have been called wides, pretty unfair on Rizwan.
