wasnt so long ago when Brook, Curran and Stokes were going at crazy prices too
Wood too off the back of the World Cup win.

If RCB ain’t playing Green in the top 4, they are insane, because surely they aren’t paying him 17 to concede 50 of 4 overs at Chinnaswamy
You look at the options and I'm not even sure he's one of the best 4 overseas players. Either Jacks or Faf likely to open, Maxwell a guarantee. And we know their bowling needs help so Joseph and Topley look good picks too.

Agreed. And Maxwell in this form, should be played in the top 4, and not purely as a finisher

Faf will play since he is the captain

Maxwell also plays because he is a fan favourite and has performed for them well

then one of Joseph or Topley will play since their domestic attack is **** and can’t be relied on at Chinnaswamy

so its either Jacks or Green and knowing rcb and their love for playing expensive players even at the expense of team combination and everything else it will be Green

Whatever it takes!!!
Why on earth would you pay that much for Cummins? He is going to get 1 for 38 in four overs like most of the time
I honestly think we saw more commitment and playing for the team from Haze than we did from Cummins. And Starc doesn't seem like he is into the IPL much either.

Every year them 3 nationalities get some over inflated fees for players that are surprising.

But coach of their nationality rating them higher than other fans countries E.g Chris Morris, Jhye Richardson off the top of my head(they may have made their fees worth it I dunno)

English players aren't valued the same consistently. If you had an English coach I reckon that would change.

Curran was player of the world cup a few weeks before auction which inflated his fee. Wood purely cos of his pace, Stokes cos he's a match winner, Brook insane start to test cricket in 2022.

Curran seems to be one that always gets picked up regardless for a decent amount, I don't get it as he's such a purple patch player.

He did not put his name in the auction for a decade or so didn't he? Now that he did means he is fully committed to it. Atleast Starc can be a genuine threat with the new ball if he discovers his top form but can't see what a good local Indian fast bowler couldn't do what Cummins can in white ball cricket

True but I mean, its easier to establish a certain loyalty and rapport at a younger age than at this stage of his career. Definitely agree about Cummins but I think part of the issue with SRH is they needed some leaders and experienced players in their squad which they lacked last season. Maybe Cummins might find it closer to his liking since Dan the man is there and he was with them during the WC as well.

This will go down as the biggest con job in cricket history. Australia has conned India to pay over $20 million to prep their 2024 World Cup XI 😀

1. Warner
2. Head
3. Marsh
4. Maxwell
5. Green
6. Wade
7. David
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Behrendorff
11. Zampa

Hazlewood, Smith and Inglis to be added to IPL tomorrow to complete the con 😉

I don’t think it is a con job tbh . Without overseas stars , there would be much less interest in IPL . Plus 20 million dollar is not even 5 percent of annual 500 million dollar TV contract.

Alzarri Joseph going for big money is a shock. Seems to take wickets but can easily go around the park (but then, so can anyone, even dreamy Pat).

But with Australia already holding Test and ODI world titles does India really want to help Australia get the triple crown...

...or maybe they're paying them such absurd money to make them soft multi-multi-millionaires before the T20 World Cup 😀

It is purely a commercial league like EPL . I doubt BCCI even care about WT20 tbh .
We fans may care but BCCI is purely a capitalist organisation.

Sam "can barely bat, can barely bowl (at times)" Curran being a record fee is a joke

pretty sure none of the fees mean as much as some might make out, much like on ebay you can buy the same item one time for £15, another time for £30, another time someone pays £95. Isn't because of vast differences in condition, just what madmen are about at the time of any given listing, and other variables.
