Reminds me Hadlee said in his book, about his time as head selector, CD complained they were getting Oram to bowl so much.
I was honestly going to compare it to Oram debuting for NZ as a bowling all-rounder when he was basically a specialist bat for CD. That was 23 years ago so I figured it was too much of a deep cut (forgetting that this forum is full of ageing millennials who would know exactly what I’m talking about)

Needs a "he used to be a goalkeeper, that's why he's a great fielder! 😃"

I love cricket but this game has felt a bit B grade for so many reasons (our side, their strugglers, the ground size, the run outs, Scotty J Stevenson, Dunedin's pre Xmas climate etc)

It annoys me that whenever a commentator refers to a ‘soft dismissal’ it literally just means the ball went softly to the fielder

Oh **** that decision. How could a sport watch the RWC final and decide watching something in slow mo and adjudicating like that is a good idea

Whenever the bowler induces a miss hit it’s ‘a soft dismissal’ and whenever the ball goes literally anywhere in the air it’s gone ‘straight up’ and ‘must be out’

O'Rourke with a wicket off the last ball - nice confidence boost on debut.

That catch by Young brings to mind Astle's one against South Africa running back.

Is there such a thing as a "hard dismissal"?

Who knows why Soumya came back into the team? He had no performance anywhere. Its just because he’s haturasingha’s fav player since 10 years with zero performance. Absolutely ridiculous.

One of the worst all-round performances I've seen in a while.
I’d blame the guy who wanted him in the team. Reports suggest the coach lobbied for him even though he did not make any runs anywhere. My biggest wish for new years eve is that bcb sacks chandika haturasingha.

Soumya being in the side is basically satire at this stage.

I think they thought he did well there last time, or was it the time before, and were willing to forget every other failure he's ever had, which happens to be nearly every other time he's ever played. Plus Hathurasinghe.
