I was honestly going to compare it to Oram debuting for NZ as a bowling all-rounder when he was basically a specialist bat for CD. Pretty sure he hadn't bowled for ages until he made a slight comeback last season. And of course had that great performance in the Ford Trophy final. But yeah, all injury related.

Yeah I thought he had come into FC cricket as an all-rounder but had only nominally been one for a while now

I think they thought he did well there last time, or was it the time before, and were willing to forget every other failure he's ever had, which happens to be nearly every other time he's ever played. Plus Hathurasinghe.
