Oscar Cousins off the TM. Happy to get him for under a mil especially given his fielding ability. 28yo 43 skill bat skewed aggressive (the sloggier the better, after all).
It's like there's a quadrifecta of great hitters now (Smith, Butler, Mncwabe, Cousins) – this is what happens when just two of them properly fire; what happens when all four do so? I'm also hopeful he can do a job as a bowler. Only 32 skill, but unorthodox action, SLA, and – most importantly – Economical. Bona fide discount Michael Winton (miss you).
Wilde has just turned 22. Complete bunny with bat and dreadful in field, but being a 153kph, 49 pot late bloomer, he'll be AXI's for the next 10–11 seasons (he's already 44 skill!).
All this means that we currently have 13 senior players in our squad. Which means it's time to farewell a couple of players who are getting on. First, Agam Naidoo has been better than expected in his interregnum of a stint as all-rounder. Good powerplay bowler and a surprisingly effective batter, belying his mere 33 skill. Two competitive knocks in particular were absolutely stellar:
in SOD 1.1 and
in the Cup. The move to sign him, squarely an #8, to bat #7 certainly paid off.
Richard Daly was only ever intended to be a short-term signing, but has become one of the side's greats. He's hung on for a long time, but at 32 it's finally time to let him go. A fantastically prolific wicket-taker, he capped off his career by being picked for England in an ODI despite being only 40 skill. His batting and fielding were both also useful. Most remarkable however, and his greatest strength, has been his stamina at 17 or 18 throughout his career. Bowling 10-over spells starting about halfway through the innings, I never once saw him get fatigued. His spells were consistently match-winning, bowling in tandem with Economical bowlers helping no end in his ability to get 3-fers every second game (seriously). Recently, though he's always been expensive, it's been sad to see his spell produce more harm than good.
