NZ batters were just looking to survive for the lunch break, I'm sure they will play their shots after a reflection.

Shoriful sending down some unplayable hand grenades.
Spinners did the job but still wondering if Jamieson at one end would have made things even tougher for BD. Good on Ajaz for finally coming through, just like the India tour took one test to settle.

With three out of form lefties in the top 7 NZ are going to have it tough, and in the last 2 innings they’ve been 5 down for 60 or less. Though with this sort of a target you need just one player, or better still one partnership to take it away from BD.

So is Patel officially our best ever Test spinner? (we really haven't had many of note.)

Has the advantage over Vettori in playing a much higher % of his Tests in the SC but a SR of 57 is great for a spinner.

No chance, Vettori is still well clear bit embarrassing to suggest a bloke with 16 tests is your greatest ever spinner ..Hasnt even taken a single wicket in New Zealand .

Maybe that's because he hasn't played a test in NZ ? Could be wrong, but surely Zinzan would have factored that in if that was the case

He's played 2 or 3 I think, when SL toured (complete roads IIRC, Mendis and Mathews batted out a full day?), and when India toured (very seamer friendly so spin didn't come into it).

Hasn't really shown he can adapt when conditions are not in favour, but at the same time not really been trusted either (Williamson taking him off after 2 overs and not bowling him again, when Stokes hit him for a couple of boundaries, was an all-time piece of bad man-management I thought).

Yeah Vettori is still clearly our best test spinner plus he was a very handy lower batsman as well, one of our only spinners that was a lock in our best XI.
