Chris Martin should have been dropped when Astle and Styris were playing. Enough right arm seam.
Yeah but Styris was mainly a batsman, and Chris Martin was also physically capable of batting, so Styris should've been behind him in the pecking order anyway.

You shouldn't be dropping your best frontline bowlers for the conditions just because you're bringing in a batsman who can roll his arm over. Ideally Rachin wouldn't need to bowl at all.
Totally agree with this but the question here is whether Sodhi is in the best front line bowlers category.
Hoping that Rachin even though a batsman performs better as a bowler.

Yeah I agree that Sodhi's position is questionable but I don't think Rachin is really very relevant to that. If anything it might make it more secure as Santner would be kind of pointless.

Regardless of whether Ravindra does or doesn’t play, the same issues which manifested in this game are more than likely to crop up to some extent again. The spinners too expensive and non-threatening, the seamers down on pace and neutered by a lack of movement and swing, several batsmen worn out / out of form. Perhaps back to back losses would force a bit more renewal of personnel to take place. I’d favour the Australian system where they have a panel of 3 selectors picking the sides, one of them being the coach. The coach is, however, not the chairman. Seems more balanced than the current NZ system where Stead has outsized power. Witness the extraordinary attack of Mitchell Johnson on David Warner; accusations of selfishness and arrogance because Warner is sticking around for a farewell series. Usually in Aus they give someone a tap on the shoulder and they are moved on, ever if an ATG like Border and Steve Waugh. Here in NZ we seem to have one aged bloke sticking around when he should be moved on. Not sure Sam Wells has been hired to do anything other than rubber stamp the picks of Stead (and Southee).
