Sure, but he's a liability fitness-wise. It will be KL now that he's "redeemed" himself somewhat. And obviously they're grooming that dweeb Gill to be captain 3-5 yrs from now.

And is particularly calm and good with DRS calls. Used to look uncharismatic earlier, but has a mature presence now

Nah, see the bigger picture. He's corrected the selfish vibe around him by batting down the order and keeping for the team, shown great judgement of DRS, is the VC anyway, and a near-automatic selection across formats. Pant definitely, if he recovers. Guys like Pandya, Bumrah are too injury prone and I don’t know if Gill or Iyer are actually that good. Rahul seems shaky in big matches from whatever I have seen.

Yeah its too early to talk about that. I would like us to have a plan for the CT in 2025 for sure though. Pakistan or UAE, dew will definitely be a factor and all-rounders or at least multi skilled players will be essential.
