It's a shame his response to the Matthews question had to go through an interpreter. All the oomph was taken out of it.

not long ago, in a ground in Delhi we hit a low, a poor lankan batsman called Angelo, he was dealt such a dirty blow

his helmet was broke so his entry slow, appeal was made so he had to go, spirits of the game as we all know, sent on a journey to far below

the cheats they're a getting together, dismissing fair play forever, timing them out is never, something considered that clever

gotta love the song Angelo, might have to work on the "chorus"

could also have a look at Figaro, whilst it isn't Angelo it does still O

My initial reaction was that the umpire should have turned down the appeal, but upon reflection I think the onus should be on players to check their equipment before getting all the way out to the middle. I know Mathews didn't do this intentionally but I hate leaving loopholes for timewasting bullshit, put your helmet on before getting on the field and this isn't a problem.

It's only a matter of time before this thread is besieged by those enemies of justice who would sacrifice the sacred laws of our game at the altar of their own misplaced indignation (again).

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to commend the three umpires for having the moral fortitude to apply the laws correctly, as they are written, despite the risk of being flagellated by the batons of public opinion. They are, each of them, vessels of truth and fairness.

Secondly, I would like to say a word in defence of Shakib Al Hasan, a much misunderstood cricketer and crusader for justice, who ultimately just wants the laws of the game to be upheld and honoured. For proof, you only need to look at the gifs that are currently doing the rounds on Twatter to see how sincerely aggrieved he gets when the umpires fail to do so.

This was low. Bangladesh will now never a World Cup because of the curse of Angelo Mathew. TBH they won’t win a World Cup because they’re terrible but now they have a curse to blame it on.

...why wouldn't you put your helmet on before heading out though? Like this obviously sucks but as a sport that has many issues with time wasting I don't have an issue with erring on the side of harshness here to avoid future tactical gear malfunctions

The naagin rivalry continues, eagerly awaiting the next installment. There should be a biannual Naagin series just like the Ashes. Winner gets to wear a Snake fang necklace
Now this is an idea I can get behind. Though it'd have to be an ODI series wouldn't it?

Why not all 3 formats just like the Ashes. More matches the better. We need another marquee series and this could be it. 2 teams battling it out for a snake fang necklace. The origins for this series will be wild because it's a rivalry that purely started on the cricket pitch. A snake dance off and then a timeout dismissal
