***Official***Match #36 - Australia vs England - November 4th - Ahmedabad

International Coach
Yeah I think this is where it’s at tbh. Was surprised when I heard him on comms over there
Reminds me of the Max Walker comms from a 12th man recording. "Brings his left foot forward, closely followed by the right, now the left, then the right, repeats this motion up to the crease, rotates the arm over his head and releases the ball while looking over his elbow at where he wants to put the ball" "it's called bowling max ya dickhead"

anyway, gonna go reminisce.

Zampa the reason why Australia won that Game against worse England team I ever seen.

For once Our Middle order stepped up and got same runs Maxwell back next game and maybe Marsh.

As for England they are a joke

I think we can treat this game as The Ashes tiebreaker too, given it was on neutral ground.

How sweet it is! Knocking England out of the WC officially and winning The Ashes in one game.

I like Howie as a commentator tbh. I think people miss that there's a lot more to commentary than having Ponting-levels of cricketing insight all the time; especially in his role as being a more ball-by-ball commentator. I'd honestly put him well above average of commentators going around the international circuit these days.

Yeah he at least does something which a lot of ball-by-ball guys forget - he defers to the expert. I actually think he would be a good radio commentator for that reason. No trouble keeping up with and describing the play, but happy to ask the expert commentator for their insight into what he's just described. That's where a guy like Bhogle has fisted himself imo. We now hear as much or more about what he thinks of the play than the ex-player(s) sitting next to him who's played a hundred tests or whatever.

I think Howard's sort of folksy hyper-Aussie mannerisms put a lot of people off, but that actually is him, he's not bunging it on for the cameras/ microphones.

Yeah Howie is good in the sense that he knows when to stay in his lane better than a lot of non playing commentators

His tendency to overemphasise the syllables in certain words though really shits me at times though. Him commentating on a BBL game between what he called the Hurri-Canes and the Rene-Gades was especially aggravating. So to was him talking about some bloke called Bair-Stow in the 2021-22 Ashes.

Easily the worst part of his commentary imo

Is it also him who has the habit of referring to players by their initial and then their last name? So like "S Smith" and "M Labuschagne" and "D Warner"? That's also quite irritating.

Pretty incredible this: Zampa only conceded singles in his entire spell. No boundaries, not even a two.
He's comfortably carrying the Australian bowling line up to our 6th WC triumph.

Also, Cummins has actually bowled really well since the first two games. I wouldn't have had him realistically in the frame as the best of the three front line quicks ahead of he tournament, but he's been pretty good of late. Really seems to be bending his back and something close to his best.

Yeah that's another one he does at times. Certainly somewhat annoying too

Yeah Cummins has been the pick of the seamers for me, he's adapted well to the conditions and bowled with a lot more craft than the other two.

Bhogle used to be good at not doing this. Think as time has gone on, he's gotten high off his own supply though.

Yeah it really does remind one of the heroic spells he bowled in the Gabba test of the border gavaskar trophy but was thwarted by Rishabh Pant playing an amazing innings and leading India to their greatest series victory of all time.

Whatever it takes!!!
I did not see the game last night but every Aussie game I have seen, I have felt Hazlewood was their best seamer. Cummins has improved than what he has been in LO cricket recently but I wont quite say he is better than Hazlewood just yet, even on current form.
