***Official***Match #35 - New Zealand vs Pakistan - November 4th - Bengaluru

NZ have missed a trick by not calling in Milne. Hopefully Jamo is up to the task but it’s easy to envisage him being carted. The bowling is looking threadbare, particularly with Boult not in great form at the moment. Suspect him - and Conway - are currently worn out mentally after the amount of T20 league cricket they’ve been playing.

Can't help but be disappointed in that. Pakistan were a full 20 runs ahead of par when the rain came, so justifiably the more likely team to win - DLS awarding them the match is the least bad way to handle the wash-out. Without the rain though, it could've been an All Time Classic ODI, something approaching the 434 match but in a World Cup!

Incredibly destructive and clean striking from Fakhar, our bowlers had no answer.

Don't feel like analyzing this match too much tbf. Batting's great. Bowling's terrible. We keep losing to aus, pak in crucial games, status quo maintained.

What I wanna ask is, so boys, what's the equation lookin like for us now? How much do we need to beat SL by? And how much do pak need to beat eng by to overtake us? calling all statdogs

Big victory would make it almost impossible for pak to qualify. By how much not sure

Pak still needs to beat Eng by 130 runs,

But the main concern is there are good chances of rain in Nz vs Sl match , if the points are shared on that one , Pak would have to just win against Eng to qualify and that would be such a heartbreak for Nz

Also we don't want the Sl game to be reduced to less than 40 overs.

Collapse was inevitable with Pakistan. They got lucky because of the rain. If this was a full game, no way they were winning this. This is the team that went from 155/2 to 191 all out not that long ago.
Lets give them credit where its due. Who knows what might have happened. NZ allowed Pakistan to get half of the runs from 25 overs and that too they achieved with one wicket down only.

I like how despite the fact Afghanistan are equal with NZ and Pak with a game in hand, they're considered almost 0% chance to make the semis.

Bookies have them at $91 to win the cup, with the other 5 teams all under $20

The value bet is picking who else makes the final to play against Australia

The kiwis should make it but at least this has put some interest in the remaining games of these two. Anything could happen with Pakistan, they're about as likely to annihilate the poms and just make the four as they are to fall in a heap and lose to them. A mercurial lot.

I’d never really used the new version until there was a flurry of awful blow-ins during The Ashes.
At your service...lol.

I'd agree that I'd rather Milne in the side, and picked over Sodhi...but was Milne fit when the squad was named? He missed the England series, and played a solitary ODI v Bangladesh. My memory doesn't serve me.

I still think we'll beat Sri Lanka and qualify, and anything can happen in knockout games...but I can't see how we're going to hold especially India or SA back from carnage with the bowling we have. We also sorely need Boult to be doing a lot more than he is.

There's been real radio silence on Milne, I can't find anything.

But he hasn't played the Plunket Shield so far, which might say something. He was playing them towards the end of last season.

That is interesting, Jamieson was playing and was the 1st reserve, so you'd suggest Milne is still not fit.

Rauf bowls more than a foot behind the line.
Rauf looked odd. On screen his bowling looks fine, but he was hitting the deck really hard and the ball seemed to reach the batsmen a bit slower than expected(maybe he shouldn't do this on SC decks?). He also seemed like a one-tricky pony, plenty of short balls + a very weak slower one that was really predictable. You shouldn't be able to spot a slower ball based on the arm-speed from the stands(Boult's change of pace was barely noticeable from his arm speed, very deceptive even though he was having a bad day). I was really excited to see him, but definitely didn't look as fast as some of the other pacers in the same category. He is bowling BBL lengths in SC.
