Sky's good. Just on a horror run. Averages 40 in his last 6 or so games.

Looking at that trophy with the past winners on it, SL seems so out of place. Every other nation has at least at some point been a top shelf/ dominant test side through history, but they’ve always been so bog average. I guess in a way it makes their win a bigger achievement.

Wouldn't a team of Jayawardene, Sangakkara, Dilshan, Jayasuriya, Murali, Vaas etc count as a top team?

I think 83 Ind, 87 Aus, 96 SL and maybe 2019 Eng were clearly examples of excellent top shelf ODI specialist sides who were nowhere near as good in tests.

Not from a results perspective. They’ve never been a really dominant test side at any given point. When you think back to when they won it, the pattern was teams generally picked a lot of test players in their odi sides.

Yeah but I’m talking from a historical perspective. There’s been times when all the other teams that have won it have been a pre-eminent test side. They never have been, but they still won it.
