***Official***Match #33 - India vs Sri Lanka - November 2nd - Wankhede (D/N)

State Captain
It's so wild that he is back into the team as a seam bowling allrounder at 7. It's like it's 2009 again.
This is also a good thing IMO. Number 7 should always be an experienced batter who can try to bat out all the overs with the tail when required OR score a few boundaries from ball one. Just a terrible spot for youngsters.

Although in this case the reason is Mathews being fat and having no stamina.

I once had to select my daughter's County shirt number - she had no idea why I was amused by her running around the field with 118 on her back (this maybe lost on those outside the UK).

I'm coming to the conclusion that Madushanka maybe a bowler of great deliveries, but not necessarily a great bowler. Hopefully, it's just a consistency thing which will come in time.

the first innings totals so far have been 399 and 382 here in the World Cup so this is certainly looking like a 330-340 par deck.

Also Pandya absolutely has to play against NED and bowl his full overs or they can’t pick him for the elimination games.

What does 118 signify ?
Around 20 odd years ago, there was a famous TV advert in the UK for a phoneline (118 118) you could ring for general enquiries (that cost a fortune). It featured 2 blokes dressed as 1970's athletes with the numbers 118 on their chests (see piccie in link). From that, when it became popular to where fancy dress to the cricket, this became one of the most common costumes (you may remember seeing people in the crowds in England looking like this).
