*Official* Road to 2024 T20 World Cup (West Indies & USA)

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Enough of this 50 over nonsense, let's look forwards to the real thing!

But on a serious note, does anyone know when tickets will become available and how easy they will be to get? Mrs GIMH is open to some group stage action in early June as we plan to be in that part of the world anyway

Guessing once qualifying is complete and we have the fixtures, that's when. But if anyone knows of any lists I can sign up to etc please shout. When I look around all I find is info about getting tickets for the 2022 tournament, which is not hugely helpful.

Awesome - that should be a fantastic trip. Will let you know if I see anything about ticketing.

Love that this tournament will have 20 teams. Looking forward to it.

Yeah there should be no reason why T20 World Cup's shouldn't have lots of teams. I'd say there's probably 13-14 teams that could win a T20 international against a Full Member on any given day, and then there's other Associates that are probably ahead of the standard of Associates from 20+ years ago.

Not a direct comparison, but I've been to a couple of football world cups. The easiest way to find up to date information was often through the supporter groups, so it may be useful to sign up to some of those and keep an eye on your emails. On occasion they even had the info before it was officially released. They're also usually a good resource for getting tickets to games if you do miss out.

Whatever it takes!!!
I am interested to see how Australia will line up for this one. Smith is not amongst their top 4 batters at this point but with conditions expected to be a lil iffy, I feel they will need someone like Smith in the squad.

Warner
Head
MMarsh
Maxwell
Inglis (wk)
Stoinis
David
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Zampa

got a lot of batters who can bowl, basically everyone except Warner and Inglis can get an over or two in. And their batting depth goes all the way down to 9 which frees up someone like Head to just go out there and swing for the fences. I expect them to have that cutter bowler, Smith, additonal keeper and maybe Agar as the reserves.

For India, at this point, I will have to go with...

Rohit
Jaiswal
Virat
SKY (subject to fitness)/Rinku
Pant (wk)
Hardik
Axar/Jaddu
Lord/Chahar
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Arshdeep/Mayank

The problem will continue to be the fact that we do not have many overs in our top 5 and we dont have many runs in our bottom 4.

If conditions are like you say (I suspect you're right) then going in with all of the "big three" is probably a mistake IMO

I don't think Chahar and Lord both should be in the squad as per their present form. They could turn a leaf, but I would rather have Rinku and go with 5 bowlers or play both Mayank and Arshdeep, if they don't turn around.

They are the best of a bad bunch as otherwise our tail would start at 8. Its already rough enough carrying Bumrah, Kuldeep and Arshdeep there.

I get it, but I feel they're almost no rounders.... Might had tried to fit both Jaddu and Axar, but Kuldeep prevents that thought.

Nah.. Jaddu is not much flash in T20s either these days, although he has nerves of steel in clutch moments. I think that has to be the combination really. We dont have many other options.

I respect that, but I don't think they're really going to contribute much either way. Shivam Dubey might be a better option.

Not really, coz he is not a bowler who bats. Again, the worry is literally no runs from 4 of the 11. I think Chahar will get enough swing with the new ball in the Windies for this to be worth it. And he has been far better than his figures indicate. He has been a bit unlucky with a dropped catch or two.

He is not even starting for SRH. Yet another case of wasted talent. He really should get the hell out of there next year.
