Yeah it’s usually the doofuses like Shri and TJB plus a few try hards. Flem too though
I get my own category in your head:wub:

Will point out again I did not start this discussion. Not my fault you had to leap on anything but "outright winner by the greatest team in existence".

Wise man once told me.....if you have to exaggerate to make a point then it's a sure sign you don't have a point worth making.

Haha you got the bite you were looking for when you referred to them as a team of finalists, but somehow you didn’t start it. Ok

I edited to finalist from something much more crude. It was an olive branch.

The 2019 world cup belongs to England in much the same way as the contents of the British Museum do.

Can't really blame him. Probably got a couple of years at least of getting contracts for various t20 gigs that will bring in a fair corn.
I had a thought that it may be the other way round and he didn't get s contract because he'd already made it known to the ECB that this would be his intention.

It does seem odd that he was solely left out.

The won the WC. They didn't win the WC final. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.
I don't even buy this. Under the rules of that tournament, England won the Final. Stupid rules maybe, but it happened. Are we saying Argentina didn't win the Football World Cup Final either?

Dobell had been saying he'd been wandering around the team hotel like a lost soul since the contract announcement was made. I suspect this decision has been made since then.

There is going to be an overhaul one way or other. It isn't great timing that white ball specialists find out about their future halfway through a tournament. There is always going to be an overhaul, and those deeper into their careers are always in danger of being cut adrift. Either way, I don't blame him from going down the t20 route as I didn't blame Malan for choosing to end his first class career at 36. If you can coin it for the last part of your career then I think it is a fair option for these folks.

Just a passing thought, but how do the recently announced contracts affect the ability of the management to have an overhaul of the ODI side?
Depends how many ODIs that they are going to play between now and next autumn. Their main white ball focus will be t20s and I would have thought that those who are in that squad would be of chief focus given a t20 world cup next year. The likes of Buttler and Bairstow are still going to be in that, despite their dreadful showing in this tournament. I think that there is a series in West Indies this winter. They would be nuts not to have a relatively new side there.

Not convinced Bairstow is in that team, he wasn't needed for the last World Cup. Jacks should be a guarantee to open.

No, because they scored more goals in the sudden death decider.

Yes, and good luck to him. Whatever my thoughts on him as a player, he deserved better than being told about his contract being terminated in the middle of a WC.
Yeah that’s really terrible management. It doesn’t get any worse tbh. Awful for the bloke
