Gavi had marked him out of the game until that point as well. Just puts his foot through it and scores a better.

Just notched up a likely winner as well.
I really should have described it as his 'first' goal. Not a bad way to make a mark in a classico.

Leicester in ridiculous form. Was ludicrous that they managed to go down with that squad tbf.

Harry Winks is playing there isn't he. I always thought he had potential at Tottenham, so it's good to see him doing well now.

Winks is a championship quality player and it shows. He's found his level.

I really like Drewsbury-Hall, he's head and shoulders the best player in that league. I remember a game wear he tore us to shreds and I thought Klopp would be interested in him but wasn't to be. Only a matter of time before he ends up at a top half EPL side.

dire **** from Man Utd
Yeah, City are immense but they were in 2nd gear today.

No obvious solutions here, the players are not exactly setting the world on fire but ETH is making some odd calls. The Mount transfer looks braindead and then today, starting eriksen and then bringing off their only proper defensive midfielder, just demented.

Does he have the balls to drop rashford who has been dire this season?

he is done , only question is does he last the season?

I was actually thinking that about how we are likely to see very few sackings this season but guess his one of the more likely.

Heckingbottom is probably inevitable but I can't see many others.

Heckingbottom probably gone before Xmas.

I looked at the skybet odds out of curiosity, he is the obvious fav next man out, Iraola 2nd fav and then Ten Hag tied with Kompany.

Sad to see Kompany in that spot, but they have been really bad this season .

The last time Portsmouth lost a League game, the clocks hadn't even gone forward, let alone back. The whole of BST undefeated......it's going to be quite a shock when they do (bogey side Charlton up next).

Szoboslai is a cheat code.

Going to be one of the very best midfielders in the world, it's only a matter of time.
He's been top class and as you say, looks destined for the very top.

He's another brilliant buy from the Reds, the way we keep identifying these players is outstanding.

Haha not like they unearthed a random gem or something, he’s been a serious player for years now
You're right that he has been a serious player for a while now - he's captain of Hungary and all the top clubs in Europe will have been very aware of him.

But like so many other players we've bought under Klopp - Salah, Mane, Gini to name but 3 - they were there for all to see but we've secured their signature and improved their play significantly.

I remember he looked a decent player in the world cup qualifiers last time out. Then England got battered by Hungary in the Nations League. I'm pretty sure he was a major factor in that game.

Liverpool showing how not to sign just 'any good player' but the right player for the teqm at that time

That's fair but not in this role. For Leipzig he was primarily a right winger, for Hungary he's been their 10. Klopp has deployed him as the right sided 8, but he's also played as a two man pivot both against Newcastle and Spurs. He's very versatile.

I remember Arsenal were linked to him for a while, even City were having a look prior to Paqueta and Doku. In the end Liverpool were the ones who took the chance and now he's looking like one of the signings of the summer.

Aside from the technical ability what has impressed me the most is his engine. He smashed all the fitness testing in pre-season and a few of the players have said he's one of the fastest guys in the squad. It's something KDB used to have that was understated, not only could he play you off the park but he'd be relentlessly doing it for the whole game and was explosive when he needed to be.

I genuinely think Szoboslai can get to that level. Scary to think what City could have been if they got him.

Lots of talk that Liverpool still need a CDM but I am eager to see where this current midfield goes. Jones is an integral part of it but I can't help but feel its going to flip on its head over the next 12-18months.
The physicality of Gravenberch and Szoboslai (with Jones and Bajcetic as depth) would make for an interesting double pivot with Mac Allister (and Elliott rotating) in the advanced role in front of them. I wonder how long it is before we see that.

I don't think it's Liverpool really taking a chance on him though, he's a better signing than that. I must admit I am surprised how well he has slotted into an #8 role, but in saying that he's always been an absolute weapon so maybe I should not have been.

$70mil for LFC is definitely a gamble. FSG don't usually spend big on one player and their last midfielder that was similarly priced flopped badly (Keita). The jury is very much still out on Darwin so they really couldn't have afforded for Szoboslai to be a failure, especially with no UCL revenue.

It was a chance they took on him given those considerations. There would have been other more experienced and proven options available.

Agree with him being quality, it's a bit of a surprise they didn't have more of a fight to land him.
