Agree on harder positition but I’m not sure if Gavaskar played in a much harder era. Smith and Williamson are the only players averaging significantly more than 50 in this era

This is an argument about era and positional adjustments. Both have had monster series and inconic performances. I still haven’t seen an analytically credible comparison but my hunch is they will look very similar. Picked Gavaskar because he didn’t cheat. Total **** IRL but not a cheat.
