Mitchell still believes.

While he is still there I do too.

win for the aussies would most likely just shut out the rest from top four, aussies still to play Afghans and deshis, kiwis still have lankans so think both will be confident of winning those respective games and maybe even win games they are less confident of winning

13 games won batting first, 13 won batting second, only two sides chose to bat first (and won), and whilst on the increase still only 26.9% won by the side won the toss, kiwis looking set to add to the woes of the toss winners, Holland probably also which would bring it back down and to 25%

interestingly I've marked those games where it could go either way normally and only three sides in such games, NZL vs ENG, PAK vs IND and NZL vs IND, who won the toss actually won the game! all upsets so far have been won in spite of the "big gun" winning the toss, four such results and twice opted to bat, twice opted to bowl

Cop that Zampa, Daryl sends him into the stands.
13 wickets from Zampa before this game, two tail vs SRL, the entire tail (four) vs HOL but nonetheless 4wi in each of his last three, unless he nabs a top order and 2-3 tail here can't see him getting another

Dunno how easy it'll be but the goal for New Zealand should be to take little risk and tap it around at a run a ball up until over 30, then treat the last twenty like a T20. If all remaining wickets are still in hand 180-190 off the last 20 overs is doable. Feel like one more wicket within the next few overs would blow it all open.

Weird that New Zealand's chances according to their predictor is now over a quarter. They're not batting badly but they're definitely in "need everything to go right" style territory now.

thing is, you have 5 fielders out for the final 10 so you want to spread your risk through the innings more.
