***Official***Match #27- Australia vs New Zealand - October 28th-Dharamsala (D)

Athlai

Not Terrible
No, I already knew Australia was much superior and would easily beat NZ, thats why I have been going on and on about how NZ has to be careful as there is a possibility of NZ struggling to secure the 4th spot!
Someone please avatar bet this thicko

We were going to win a five match series in 2009, but it started pouring down in Brisbane just as Brendon Diamanti was blazing us to victory.
No ****ing way this happened...holy **** just looked it up and it did

Certainly for ODI series in Australia. Despite always being talked up as how competitive they are in that format, I don't think they've ever won an ODI series in Australia.

The one time NZ had the measure of Australia in one-dayers in Australia - 2001/02 - they still lost the tri-series to South Africa.
We did take them head on around the mid 2010s from memory, I think the game where Matt Henry got Mitchell Marsh caught and bowled contentiously led to a series win? But yeah, that was at home. Then the 2007 C/H whitewash which owed to Australia sending a B side.

I hate it, but we have a massive mental block. I can't think of a side in any sport who has such a consistent issue against an opponent as us (no matter what the personnel or circumstance) as keen as I am to hear any suggestions

Oh I agree. There's no scars if we play SA. India, that's different because they are a superior side to us...but if we somehow finished 2nd and Australia third, there's scars. No question. Not just from today.

That's why I rate Shane Bond so highly, he cut through that ****. Not many have
Yeah Shane Bond stepped up against the Aussies, Chris Cairns and Martin Crowe too, they didn't let them boss them around, they did the bossing.

State Regular
Also Brett Lee hitting two sixes to end the innings
No but I remember Lee dismantling the kiwi top order & Cairns' top edge going full to the third man with the match probably ending right there! And I'll reiterate if it hasn't been said before Oz 2003 > Oz 2007 with arguably being the best ODI side ever.

If I had a dollar for every time a kiwi fan coped with "Australia aren't better NZ team just have a mental block" I'd never have to work a day in my life

It's important they try not to go too hard here. They can afford to knock it around till over number 35 for another 100 and then go really hard

It's not a coping mechanism...actually no sorry in the time it took to write this, I admit it is

But my point remains that the beatings we've taken over the years don't reflect the match-ups in terms of XI v XI, they more reflect canary yellow v black
