In the short term, this is what matters. Not cleared of the charge just cleared to play this weekend.

Yes but ripper said he was found not guilty. In the short term, this is what matters.
Cleared now for to insufficient evidence. Tom Curry has faced a huge amount of abuse but WR confirmed his allegations was made in good faith. RFU angry it didn't go to an independent panel. I suspect it would've done had the situation been different but WR don't want to prevent a star name playing in their showcase event.Yes apologies, I saw a headline and posted without fact checking, apologies -"cleared to play this weekend" the correct terminology.
Sport is perennially faced with the issue that disciplinary procedures aren't fast enough to adjudicate satisfactorily during competition. I don't want to see Bongi rubbed out, but don't really trust the WR no. They showed with the Farrell case in the warm-up matches that their processes aren't fit for purpose (although I had no argument with the final decision) and they've been all over the place with red/yellow cards.Bongi can't be banned just because Curry said so.
And WR is the independent panel I'd think?
I'd like to think if it was Bongi accusing accusing Curry of racism, with the same levels of evidence being provided, that you'd also still want Curry rubbed out, even with a lack of evidence of the crime?
Or am I misinterpreting the tone of the post?
I'm a neutral in this, but so far as I can tell, Bongi hasn't done anything wrong, and neither has Curry. The abuse directed at Curry is abhorrent. The statement from the RFU is perhaps the worst of the lot.
So why did it need four steps to finally make the decision?I think Farrels case is a bit different, in that there is clear video of him dropping a shoulder into a player's head.
Interesting point about the red/yellow cards. There's no doubt they've changed their rulings through the competition. Curry's red, for example, would undoubtedly be a yellow now. It still baffles me how there were apparently no mitigating circumstances at the time.Sport is perennially faced with the issue that disciplinary procedures aren't fast enough to adjudicate satisfactorily during competition. But in this latest incident they didn't even obtain all the evidence as MH points out. It's the inconsistency that means I have no confidence. Not sure. Something about a cleary incorrect ruling by the initial disciplinary hearing. And a weight of evidence.
I don't disagree WR are **** btw.
I think we'd all like to know that, but if you don't ask the players, how will you ever know? What evidence was not obtained? Eng/Curry never made an official complaint? IRB decided to do an investigation and they must of at least ask for statements from players concerned?
I still would love to know the exact circumstances this occurred under? And the previous one brought up from 2022.
Did they not ask the players? Or did they not have a hearing? Two different things, I assumed they still asked for statements?I think we'd all like to know that, but if you don't ask the players, how will you ever know?
Apparently they received submissions from both teams but they never actually spoke to the players. It seems such an obvious way to conduct enquiries!!Did they not ask the players? Or did they not have a hearing? Two different things, I assumed they still asked for statements?
Only if that’s what the players want. Personally I’m of the opinion, for different reasons both players just want this dropped. Else England would have made a formal complaint.Apparently they received submissions from both teams but they never actually spoke to the players. It seems such an obvious way to conduct enquiries!!

England team management did not lodge a complaint to the citing officer or match referee. It was later reported after the deadline had passed that on the Sunday the RFU had asked IRB to start an investigation. But did not actually lay an official complaint through the normal after match channels. They did lodge a complaint
